I have been entering Lovecraft's works here at Yog-Sothothery one at a time and reading them as I go along. So far I have little to comment on. The Secret Cave is a bit disturbing for a juvenile author and I'm sure The Beast in the Cave upset a few people, but they are not all that exciting for me. I have noticed a pattern in the description of caves and tight, claustrophobic spaces.
Also, in The Beast in the Cave we see Lovecraft's "beast" is really MAN. You will see this again in later stories.
